DVD/RADIO upgrade

I want to upgrade the dvd/radio in our trailer,, (when I push the remote for the tv, it messes with the radio,,, Wondering what others are putting in their trailers.. Looking for something in the 2-300 dollar range that I can plug the tv into to watch dvds and also play the audio from the tv thru. Thanks in advance.

  • I just changed our no name chinese made stereo with a Panasonic AVH-X1600DVD. Had no use for bluetooth so saved some money over their other models. Paid $180 at best buy price matching off Amazon.

The original stereo had A/B/C speaker selection to turn on/off living room, bed room and outside speakers. Because conventional car stereos do not have this I use the fader control to turn on/off living room and bed room and mounted an A/B speaker switch to select the bed room or outside speakers.

I also mounted an Auxiliary and USB jack for plugging in my phone or USB stick.

I wired in a bypass so all functions work in RV. Works so much better than the cheap POS stereo that the trailer came with.
  • I don't remember the brand but our trailer had essentially an indash receiver/cd. We replaced it with a AM/FM/HD with most inputs known to man. No it does not do dvd's to my knowledge but I am only on page 400 of the owner's manual. I keep falling asleep after the 3rd scotch and I can't deal with the translation from Chinese or Korean when sober. I do find I can get good music without incessant ad interruptions in nearly any location, even those that have AM/FM searches that give only gospel and bad country throughout the dial, yea HD!

daveor, what model do have now? I have a lot of experience in 12V A/V products, I may be able to suggest one for you.

How far south are you? I'm about as far as you can get without being in CA.
all the one in there now says is Linear Series. I am at mp 100 on I-5.

  • Pioneer 2600BT. DVD playback, radio, aux input, Bluetooth streaming from your phone controlled by the campfire.

I was looking at that for a while but decided to just get a BT portable speaker. I use it inside the camper for better TV sound, outside for campfire music, beach music, garage at home, and all over doing yard work. I have this Sharkk but the Creative Roar is probably worth the upgrade cost in sound quality and volume for anywhere but campsites.

Hey Daveor, greetings from the Willamette Valley.

I've had the same issue with our factory dvd/radio. My solution has been to open the DVD cover all the way so it hides the IR eye on the radio. Then the tv remote works just fine. Other folks have put a post-it note over the little eye.

All that said, if you find something inexpensive that fits and does radio/DVD and has HDMI output, let me know
    will do,, thanks
