1. The cab does not have to be removed to work on a Ford diesel, but labor costs can be less by removing the cab verses working within it.
2. Due to reduced space and cooling, the E series vans used detuned versions of the same engines used in the F series pickups.
3. If you go up to the E450/550 or chassis cab F450/550, they will also run detuned versions of the engine for another reason: To allow longer duty cycle at maximum output.
