as noted above the 6.0 in a van is tuned differently than one in a F series truck. However when we were looking for a rv I wanted a diesel, found a couple of 6.0 ones but the coach was the problem on both. I have an F350 with the 6.0 and it is a great truck. yes I spent $4K on it for preventative maintenance but that is a cheap price compared to the new trucks and actually the 6.0 is starting to live dsown its reputation. The diesel mags are changing their stories on it and sever 600+ HP versions have been covered in the magazines. I also have a v10 in the rv and still wish I had a diesel. Go to one of the ford diesel sites (ford truck enthusists, or powerstroke.org) and read up on the 6.0. A lot of critics of the engine have never had one, some have and are critics but remember most of the stories you hear do not reflect real world for others. Just do not add a tuner for big HP get a scan gauge 2 or something to monitor the engine for problems when you test drive if you find one.
