Once your engine gets dirty/dusty I'm not sure removing the intake tube is a good idea, but there's really not many options here, except remove the inner fender which I've seen it done.
If I owned one of these '13-'15 cummins finding a after market filter relocation kit would be very high on my priority list for my truck.

BTW... I do respect the fact you prefer to do this yourself. I couldn't imagine having some kid perform this task at the lube shop. Way too many opportunities for a mistake to be made with unintended consequences.
Well not a bad idea to check the turbo while intake hose is off, real easy for visual and quick shaft play.
I don't have the extra hose that the 15 does, but pull the intake hose every change. Old filter out the top, and new full of oil filter back in from the top.
