Ok, so its not an F150 but it has the same motor! Faster, handles better, has more space inside...
Seriously though.... If you aren't towing, just start sitting inside trucks at the dealer until you find one you like! - MitchF150Explorer III

So buy a GM product.... Oh wait, they've recalled how many vehicles lately... :)
I had a 97 F150 with the 5.4 and the amount of "internet" report issues on that generation of F150's was incredible! I thought I just purchased the biggest TURD in the world!!
Well, I owned it for over 12 years and traded it with 255,000 miles on it for the 2013 Eco..
Sure, time will tell for ANY vehicle you buy... Some are TURDS and some turn out OKAY... ;)
To the OP... What's your desire for an EcoBoost in an F150 if you don't want to tow or haul with it?? If it's for the pleasure of feeling all that torque and getting into the boost a lot, that's great!
But, if you just want an F150 to get the groceries with, the base 3.7 V6 would be fine IMO... It has more HP then my 97 5.4 had, but not as much torque, but it'll be a great little driver...
Or, if you like the nice old school V8 sound, the 5.0 is a nice choice too... :)
I thought I'd really miss that V8 growl... But, I'm really liking the Eco's 'growl' when it's working and it's still quiet at the same time!
Anyway, get what makes you happy and that's all that matters... :)
Good luck!
Mitch - GooExplorerI've had no issues with my EcoBoost in the 2 years I've owned it. If I was not going to tow, but wanted a truck, the 3.7l base v6 would be on the top of my list.
Good luck. - wwestExplorerThe F-150 EcoBust is currently experiencing design problems that the Ford engineers seem to not be able to solve, at least 3 TSB fixes over that same number of years plus the current fix which is beginning to look like yet another failure.

F-150 "drill a hole" - DougEExplorerDepends on your needs. Will you need to haul more than one passenger? Yes, but rarely, get the Super cab. Often, get the Crew Cab. Do you haul long loads? Never, get the 5.5' bed. Up to about 8', get the 6.5' bed. Longer?, get the 8' bed. Do you carry heavy loads? Must be no since you're just looking at the F150. Another consideration is length vs. maneuverability.
