Our Trailhawk problems have been ongoing for some time. We currently have a non repairable cooling system problem.
Ouch... What's not repairable about a cooling system?
My wife decided she wanted a new vehicle and initially gravitated towards the Grand Cherokee. So we test drove both a Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee just for kicks. Right after we drove off the Jeep lot she commented that her '11 Ford Edge with 76k miles drove and felt so much better than both of the brand new Jeeps so that got us back to the Ford dealer looking at vehicles. She ended up picking a '14 Ford Edge Sport and this thing with 305hp will scoot.
I've heard Ford is working on a product to safely clean the soot.
It only leaks antifreeze as a vapor. I don't work on anything with a car payment. I buy new cars to spend more time with the family. While I have my theory for what's wrong. It's a dealer/manufacturer problem, not mine. I also live close to the dealer. Not too much trouble to drop off in exchange for a loaner. The Cherokee also had various Hvac issues and poorly machined driver rear knuckle. We had 1.5wks where everything worked good. It's time to move on. Too bad. The heated seats and steering wheel are great. It also has adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring. transamz9 wrote:

I know where you are coming from on that Fish. My wife loves GC Jeeps. She has had 4 of them and every time we go looking we drive other SUVs of different makes and models and she always ends up going back to the Jeep. Our problem is that it is stupid for us to have one because she drives 10 miles to work and then back. When we go somewhere and I'm with her we take one of the trucks. So paying that much money for her to drive 20 miles a day don't make sense. She has a VW Beetle that she drives to work now because she loves them too. LOL!
BTW, the GC comes standard with 305 hp in the V6. IDK what the Hemi is rated at.
Yes the 305 hp in the GC is feels pretty strong, but by the seat of the pants not as strong as the Edge Sport. I'm sure the main reason is the Edge is lighter than the GC.
BTW... I've never drove a VW Beetle, but they look very nice and retro.dshelley wrote:
Perhaps I may have to convince my wife to trade her 2014 Grand Cherokee for a well used 4 year old Edge.
My advice is don't convince your wife to purchase any particular vehicle. Although mine dragged me to a Kia dealer and I thinking there's no way in hell I'm going to purchase a Kia.- Bruce_H_Explorer

:) Now there is a smart man! We'll have been married 50 years this August, and I still haven't perfected the art of staying within her parameters. Maybe by our 60th anniversary! :)

I was researching EcoBoost the other day. One thing I came across. There appears to be no Ford approved induction cleaning on gas turbo engines. If the head has carbon buildup from direct injection the heads are repaired by replacement. Not sure if true.
There's quite a bit of that on the web (talk of problems with carbon build up), but I'm not sure how widespread it is in the real world.
I drive a direct injected BMW and BMW has an apparatus that bolt onto the induction side of the head and blasts the carbon buildup with walnut shells. It appears to work very well. - wcjeepExplorerWhile I agree. They are both Chrysler/Fiat vehicles. Wife has made a decision. It's never my job to argue with her. I work within her stated parameters.

Already in process of Lemon Law with a Jeep Cherokee. Wife wants a break from Chrysler.
There's a big difference between a Trail Hawk and a Grand Cherokee.
