I wonder how many EV naysayers on here are going to suddenly think EV's are the best thing since sliced bread because it has "Ford" in it's name?
I can assure you that it won't be me. Most of the vehicles that I have owned have been Ford and I have been a fan of the Mustang ever since it came out. I have a 66 Fastback Mustang and a 69 Cougar convertible in my garage. If they go to all electric vehicles I'd rather see the Mustang name die rather than be electric. If it has an electric motor in it it's not a Mustang to me and I bet a lot of other diehard Mustang fans will feel the same way.
Not disrespecting your opinion and you are certainly not the only one, but out of curiosity what is it about electrification that turns you off. An E mustang has better performance, handling, reliability, lower maintenance, better ergonomics, better safety etc than an ICE equivalent. Again, no disrespect here. Just curious on people’s perceptions.
Cheers.
Where did he say he was against electric vehicles. Just not reuse a name that has a specific meaning to fans. Many equate the mustang with the visceral feel and sound of a v8 engine. If moving to a new era treat it as such.
I have no idea if he is against EV’s. Are you confusing me with another poster. I’m asking what aspects of having a mustang an EV turn him off. I don’t really care but am curious. Maybe it’s the sound or smell. Who knows. Nothing wrong with that. Just curious.
No, not confusing you with someone else.
Your quote "but out of curiosity what is it about electrification that turns you off" Which is why I stated he did not say he was against electric vehicles.
And I noted "Many equate the mustang with the visceral feel and sound of a v8 engine. If moving to a new era treat it as such"
Just because someone has an opinion the electric is the best and nothing compares is missing the point. But I suspect you just didn't read or misread what I wrote.
Nope. Just asking the person why the electrification of the brand lessens it in his mind. Just a curiosity. Its obviously not the performance aspect. Just a curiosity. Sorry you find it offensive. I am sure his reason makes sense to him and that is the only person that matters.- mich800Explorer

Cheers.- I remember when the Mustang was getting larger each revision back in the late '60s and early '70s. People were talking about Mustang station wagons and four door sedans should be next. Gas crunch stopped all that and the Mustag II actually shrunk a bit.
Low and behold today we finally get a 4 door Mustang crossover wagon version ;)

I don't have a Bolt. However I read there was a 'Hill Top' mode for 2019 that would take it to 90% charge for the exact reasons you state. You must have an older version. Doubt GM will do an update.time2roll wrote:
I speculate GM Bolt is not selling well due to the dealer salesmen talk to the customer with an attitude similar to sarguy. Doubtful production is the issue.
Part of it is that the Bolt is just not as good of an electrical car as the Tesla. I have a relative that owns one and he lives at the top of a 1,500ft hill which he has to descend to go anywhere. Because the Bolt won't stop the charging process until it is full he always leaves the house with a full charge and has to ride his brakes down the hill instead of using regen. So he is basically buying electricity to wear out his brakes. Also, if you can avoid 100% charge or discharge the battery lasts much longer so he doesn't have that option either. My son always programs his Tesla to stop at 80% unless he plans to make a long trip. Even at only 80% it still has more range than the Bolt at 100%.
The newest versions allow user selectable 40% to 100%.

I speculate about 90% on the Tesla is 100% on the Bolt. Tesla has always allowed more capacity use at the top end and hence the selectable charge level from the very beginning.- danrclemExplorer

I can't figure out why Ford used the Mustang name for this car. Other than slight styling cues, this thing looks a lot more like a Honda Crosstour than a Mustang.
The other Mustang sold pretty well for a long time. And if we think about it, the best seller in the early years of production was the 6 cyl, 3 speed manual. At the time it was a pretty economical vehicle to drive. Much closer to Falcon than Thunderbird. - I can't figure out why Ford used the Mustang name for this car.
