I'm considering upgrading my 811 to a power rear awning. THe manual awning is a nuisance to deploy unless you like balancing on the rear bumper while trying to extend it.The concern I have is the mounting point of the arms. There's a mid-point standoff bracket, and the bottom of the leg bolts to the wall too.I need some photos that show where the bottom mount is - I realize it's near the jack, but a photo would make it easier to see if it's close to the location of my current awning arms.

I went to the Spokane AF dealer today to check it, and they have NO AF campers in inventory.

It's a 2014 AF811. The button to extend and retract the awning is located just inside the entry door on the right side next to the dinette slide (but not actually on any area that slides). Kind of between the fire extinguisher and the slide section. I can get a picture on here for you later today.

Just curious of the need for the standoff brackets? My camper's not an AF but it mounts directly to the back of the camper.

Great post! Thank you for sharing! I own a AF811 and was thinking about upgrading to an electric awning. I usually camp solo and the manual awning is really a pain to use.
I'm really disappointed to find out that this upgrade may not possible.

It was nice to get the info, even if it wasn't good news. After posting this thread and seeing the pics, I kind of decided I would just stick with the manual awning, because installing the power awning would leave a bunch of unused holes in the back wall after seeing the pics in this thread.

Yep, we will have to fight with the manual awnings until we decide to sell and get a new AF.

The local AF dealer called me back yesterday and said that the models equipped with manual awnings don't have the necessary studs (framing) in the rear wall to bolt the power awning's standoff brackets to.

So I am guessing you are giving up on the idea of going with an 865, and keeping your 811?

Adventurer (which I conclude you have since that's what's in your profile) must use a different brand of awning, or maybe the rear wall of the camper is configured differently.

All the AFs I've seen have the standoff brackets, but I never paid attention to the lower mount, just the upper.

We seldom use our rear manual awning because as stated previuosly its a PITA to deploy and put away. I even inquired out in Quartzsite 3 years ago at the Carefree booth to see if they could convert mine to a power awning and they basicly did their best to make an a** out of me.I would love to have one put on and take it back out to show those goof balls that it can be done.

The standoff brackets are required so the awning roller clears the roof overhang.

The power awnings have arms a little different than the manual awnings. The arms have to be completely vertical.

The roller is attached to the roof overhang like before (manual awnings), and the arms have to drop straight down from the roller assembly, hence the need for the standoff rackets.

Not sure why there's a standoff bracket. Friend with 2014 AF 865 also has the same stand off brackets. I would definitely like to upgrade. The manual awning is a pain to deploy. Especially with Glow Steps setup and incoming weather system.
