Well, I hear ya. Former trans am owner etc. But a few years ago we took our first EV for a drive and kinda really really liked it. Now both are vehicles are electric and I am always amazed at how clunky ICE vehicles feel now. We have also got hypersensitive to exhaust fumes not to mention our garage doesn't smell like a, well, garage anymore.
But yah I hear what you are saying. If you want to really see something depressing go to a drag strip and watch the Teslas knock off half million dollar lamborghinis in the quarter mile. 7 passenger complete with kid seats and cup holders handing lamborghinis and Ferraris their assets...and all in total silence...and a five star safety rating. Ouch
One of my friends is the mobile Tesla technician for the south Texas area. I have driven in one and they are quick, but what I am talking about has nothing to do with quarter mile times or epeen paper numbers contests. It is the experience of it all. The sound of the engine comeing to life, the excitement of shifting through the gears, the smell of high octane fuel, or the feel of the road through the steering wheel. Heck, I would even take a Mazda Miata down a winding road over a Tesla.
Maybe it is just because I am a car guy or something else, but the downsides of an ICE to you are the plus sides to me. As I said before....to each their own.
