- pianotunaNomad IIIHi rocelp,
Portable solar kits are about five times as expensive as fixed in place units.
Inverters should be installed as close to the battery bank as humanly possible but NOT in the same compartment. Use big fat wires on the DC side of the inverter.
I use mine this way:
1. unplug from shore power
2. unplug the converter
3. plug shore power cord into an outlet powered by the inverter
4. set the fridge for propane
5. turn on the inverter. - rocelpExplorerThanks for the replies. I will research on how to install an inverter.
Do I need to go to a dealer or is this easy to do it yourself?
Planning on buying a portable solar kit or generator and I guess this won't work unless I get the inverter, lol. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
If you wish to have 120 volt power when boondocking, it will be necessary to add an inverter. - ScottGNomadThe outlets will only work when your trailer is plugged in.
