A properly wired disconnect in a travel trailer will NOT disconnect the breakaway switch. It is a safety issue in case the trailer is towed with the disconnect open.
This is not the case for me. My breakaway switch is not wired around the disconnect switch, but I don't see this as a safety issue. I have an electric jack. If my disconnect switch is not turned ON, I'm not going to be able to operate the electric jack and I'm not going anywhere.
So you are saying it is NOT POSSIBLE for someone to open the disconnect after the tongue jack is used allowing the trailer to be towed illegally and unsafely due to non-functioning emergency brakes?
Nope, I'm not saying that. There are a lot of low-probability events that could cause my emergency brakes to become non-functional such as someone could cut my emergency brake cable or the positive terminal on my battery could become seriously corroded or extremely loose, or my battery could go dead without me knowing it, etc. I'm just saying I'm not going to concern myself with low-probability events.
