well, 2 pages of rants about ethanol, but no responses to the OP question. So I'll chime in on the OP question, will non ethanol help on towing mileage.
My experience is not near a much as you might see when unloaded. Maybe about the same percent improvement, or possibly less. but when your down at or under 10mpg, the absolute difference will likely be small.
Once under load a gas engine can't run much ignition advance without detonation, and that hammers mileage by itself. add to that all the other drag from what your towing, and those elements all dominate your economy, or lack there of.
Worth a try, but be careful of any conclusions since wind, terrain, temperature, traffic make it hard to be a controlled comparison and your looking for between fractions of a mpg to maybe 1 mpg differences.
