well, 2 pages of rants about ethanol, but no responses to the OP question. So I'll chime in on the OP question, will non ethanol help on towing mileage.
Yes there was, back about reply number 2.
E10 contains about 3 percent less energy than pure gas so you should get about 3 percent less mileage using it.
But "your mileage may vary". The only way to know for sure in your situation is to try it and see.
Yeah......another post got hijacked.
JMO but how much mpg changes won't be the same for each vehicle for various reasons. Driving style.... vehicle brand.... engine hp/torque numbers and a host of other reasons.
The wifes previous '06 1500 5.3 chevy 3.73 gears E85 compatible crew cab 4x4 4L60E would average around 18-18.5 mpg on gas.......17-17.5 mpg on E10......and 11.5-12 mpg on E85. Numbers were with a empty truck and several tanks of each just to make sure all the fuel in the tank was the same blends.
Performance wise I couldn't tell one blend from the other towing a 10k car hauler with 9460 lb on the trailers axles or non towing.
The E85 blend seemed to idle smoother on this truck. No starting issues regardless of blends.
I don't have a city to drive in so all rural highway and mostly small town driving.
`The mpg/performance subject has been around for years and findings are about like this thread when we look around the net.
