I almost bought some land in the Colorado high country but upon investigation found that the land was zoned for farming (it was just outside of a very recognizable Colorado town) and if one made non-farming improvements (such as putting in a paved pad and/or utilities for the RV site), it would trigger requirements to do some pretty substantial work: run city utilities to the property line, etc.
...and then the owner decided that she could start a bidding war between myself and another person (who also desparately wanted to get out of Texas). I don't play that game, so there went that idea.
I'll stick to the 100 acres in Alaska with a cabin. Maybe my great-grandchildren can put an RV there.
