I'm in this camp as well. I had a V-10 X and traded it for a 7.3 X.
As mentioned the V-10 is a very capable engine but it will never deliver the towing performance of a diesel.
If you're in it for the long term pay the premium for the diesel. If there is not a long term commitment a V-10 with 4.30 gears will get you through.
