My buddy had a 2003 3/4 ton 4WD extended cab Duramax/Allison when he bought a Big Horn 3685. Now he has a 2012 dually. Get a SWR3500 at least. Get the cab for however much people space you want.

I've got a Ford F350 Crew cab DRW long box. It tows my 37' Montana with ease and comfortably. Also there is plenty of room for the Shelties in the back seat!

I got the 6.0 in addition to the D/As. I needed something to runaround in and pull a decent load if needed and I didn't want to spend 50K on a diesel. It seemed silly to continue to put nontowing miles on my duramax trucks. That's a bummer on the back seat. Maybe the increase in backseat dimensions will help somewhat.

I will only own a crew cab... IMHO cab length doesn't matter for your fiver needs. That is a function of bed length.

THere are rumors flying around that GM is even going to drop Ext Cabs due to low sales on the 2500/3500 line when the next gen HDs hit the market next year. Only option will be standard or crew with both bed options.

I have owned both (GM products). The CC without a doubt has a much better resale than the extra cab. The extra room is a bonus. When I bought my 2012 2500HD I considered extra cab as its mostly a work vehicle and I wanted to keep the price down. I ran the numbers, both purchase and expected resale value. We have been getting ext cabs since 85, but our next truck will be a crew cab with a long bed.

Crew cabs will generally have less towing capacity (by a small amount) of the 3 cab types. Having said that my next truck will be a CC 1 ton or I'm not even going to open the door on it, Not enough room in my supercab for kids and stuff. Happy Camping.

Get a reg cab 2500 and you wil have dang near the payload ofa dualy. At least my 2500 has 380 lbs, my dully 3500 has 4100.

I would go LB before a sb of any cab.
