For newbie onlookers. Your loaded steer weight should be as close to the unloaded steer weight as you are reasonably able to adjust your hitch and load to attain. Your tongue weight as seen by CAT scales. (Loaded combined TV axle weights less unloaded TV axle weights) Should be between 10 & 15% of your gross or wet trailer weight (not just what is on the trailer axles) Aim for 12.5% More better resists sway but also puts more on your TV to balance out and stay below max ratings.
These are the main things for setting up a safe stable tow and apply to any larger TV & TT that require use of a WDH.
Maury82 didn't say that he scaled his setup but if he does it sounds like he is in the range for those two things. Otherwise it would be less stable than he described. The value in knowing this is you can more concretely set any rig up to be as stable as can be without the uncertainty of chance.
You can also use the scale slip to verify you are not exceeding steer or drive axle weights, receiver rating, CVWR combined vehicle weight rating and last GVWR gross vehicle weight rating. Mostly for the safety of your family but it could also be used to prove your due diligence in the event of an accident. CAT has a free app for your phone with scale locator & gps directions. Cost is usually $12 & $2 per additional weigh.
BTW I transport TTs for a living for the Mfgs. A 30' floorplan 8,000 pound wet weight is generally the safe limit for any properly specked newer half ton when properly setup according to Mfg specs via CAT scale results.
