Yes I am . Why? Because people need to understand the truth about why a light weight vehicle shouldn’t be conventional towing a TT 1.75X it’s own weight. Doesn’t matter if it’s Ford , Ram , or Chevy. Before I purchased the XD I came close to purchasing a HDPP f150, I’m not a brand loyal person. Once you understand the underlying physics and the advantage of mass to towing dynamics can’t be overstated. The HDPP f150 has nothing special that makes it tow better than say the Max tow configuration, Ford’s TWR reflects that. It’s still a light weight vehicle regardless of its payload rating, it can’t produce the cornering stiffness it needs at the tires to hold back the heavy weight when towing, it’s COG shifts far rearward when heavy tongue loads are applied. There’s no margin of stability/ safety left on these trucks if you drop 1200lbs + of TW on the hitch. A WDH won’t fix this.
Tell me about how your 2018 HDPP truck handled your 9,000lbs plus TT in emergency maneuvers, abrupt lane changes, and stopping...start there first.
Crickets!!!
If you don't have a towing story to tell, then listen to mines. :)
When it comes to the limitations of a tow vehicle, there is very little you can tell me, because your sentiments are too tainted with bias, and the comments about, "too much for a 1/2 ton" carries much less weight than raw specs.
I didn't ask any questions, I'm articulating my experiences for any lurkers out there who wants to tow heavy, and keep the benefits of a 1/2 ton, and I have to learn and determine the limitations of a 1/2 ton as I go. That's a clue that I don't trust your opinion and perspectives about the limitations of the 1/2 ton.
I'm interested in hearing your sentiments about a 9,000lbs 1 ton's handling limitations while pushing its limits towing 2 1/2 times its weight of 30,000lbs plus, or twice its weight when 22,000lbs is on the bumper.
If anything, you should be trying to learn from me, as I inform you about what a 1/2 ton can and can't do...grab a brew and take a seat..lol!!
I'm a newbie, but I'm not one of those gullible newbie, and your supreme lack of knowledge about the truck is comical, and makes my time on the treadmill extra interesting.
For your information, I'm not used to the low limitations of a truck, and that is why it is so difficult owning one. It's faster, stops better, handles better than a HD truck, and I trying to adjust to the slower cornering behavior, bulky and ponderous suspension over bumps, low potential emergency handling etc, but it's tolerable. A heavier, more bulky and slower truck would be too intolerable, especially when there isn't a need for it.
