F150 and a Camplite 6.8

I have a 2013 f150 7200lb ecoboost supercab 6.5 bed and wondering if anyone has this combo with the Camplite 6.8 ? How is your mpg? does it feel overloaded? Just doing a little searching for info before I buy a truck camper.

  • I wonder what your trucks rated for cargo carrying. I see that model CampLite is 1780 lbs. base weight. Saw an F150 supercab eco boost toting a Lance 865 recently.
  • I may have to go lighter on the truck camper then. I want one that does not leak and rot.
  • Don't think there is any hardside that you will be pleased to drive. Slow death for the truck. You will have to put a lot of $ into suspension fixes and you will still be way overloaded. Many manufacturers say they have models suited for half tons...they are not being truthful. You need at least a 250 for the lightest hardsides if you want a tolerable and safe drive.
  • HEY!!!! Glad to see another WVian here.

We had the same truck you did, but upped it to the F250 before we got a TC. And at that we started out with a light-weight pop up. I think you would regret it...especially if you were going to tow something.
  • As you can tell from my posts,
I'm a big fan of F150 and pop ups,but your in F250 load area.
    I'm 350 lbs over,7550 on cat scale.
you would be over by 1000lbs
