I have a Ram and have always wondered about how long one of these "smaller" engines "boosted" would function reliability towing for years. I do notice no one talking about them giving up, blowing up or falling apart so I guess that answers my question. As someone noted, this thread has not gravitated in that direction. They must be pretty decent and unbelievably well engineered or we would have heard about it. Pretty amazing to see that they appear to be as good over the long haul as Ford says. Darn it... As a Ram owner, I was hoping otherwise.
Well, you might be surprised (or maybe disappointed ;) )to know that the EB was designed to be a twin turbo from the ground up. I think a lot of people (especially older people, like my dad) hear turbos on a small V6, and think about projects where someone bolted a turbo to an engine not designed for such use, and had lots of issues.
The EB is engineered to the task. The 2.7 even moreso, with its CGI block. Which was previously used in, you know, diesel engines that run with turbos.
