- SamsonsworldExplorerAhhh, here you go:
Passing 45-65mph test while towing 7k lbs:
2.7L Ecoboost 9.4 seconds
3.0L Ecodiesel 21.2 seconds.
Nuff said.
http://www.motortrend.com/news/comparison-2015-ford-f-150-vs-ram-1500-chevrolet-silverado/ - SamsonsworldExplorerI wouldn't tow anything bigger than a bass boat with an ecodiesel. You'll get run over trying to merge with traffic. What is it again, 0-60mph in 6 days?

The take away here is the Ecoboost is a solid engine, purchase with confidence. Otherwise there would be 7 pages of issues and not 7 pages of Ecodiesel mpg debate.
I have no dog in this hunt, but I clicked on this thread to learn a bit about the reliability of EcoBoosts (I've always wondered) and it appears to have turned in to a mpg and manufacturer debate unfortunately.
Would enjoy seeing this thread get back on track with some more posts from the OWNERS of the EBs on reliability.
Your on the wrong forum if you want real answers to "EB reliability"
Here might I suggest these sites!

Don
Don, we all can use Google. Do the same for the Ram ED, you'll get the same results. Actually Google every vehicle out there and you'll get the same.
I still have those stones to deliver? Just let me know your correct address.
The EB had growing pains just like every new engine out there but has resulted in a great product. Most of the 150s I see are EB. Perrysburg Dodgeboy wrote:
Miss me Troy? LMAO I'v been working 12 hour days but I'm in vacation this week ole buddy of mine. Come on up and I'll by you a beer and we can go out on the lake and do some walleye fishing.
Don
LOL...I wouldn't mind jerking some lips on those walleye's. With all this rain we're getting we maybe catching bass and catfish in the bays.
Anyways it's interesting Don is keeping a close eye on this thread. :h- Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

I have a Ram and have always wondered about how long one of these "smaller" engines "boosted" would function reliability towing for years. I do notice no one talking about them giving up, blowing up or falling apart so I guess that answers my question. As someone noted, this thread has not gravitated in that direction. They must be pretty decent and unbelievably well engineered or we would have heard about it. Pretty amazing to see that they appear to be as good over the long haul as Ford says. Darn it... As a Ram owner, I was hoping otherwise.
Well, you might be surprised (or maybe disappointed ;) )to know that the EB was designed to be a twin turbo from the ground up. I think a lot of people (especially older people, like my dad) hear turbos on a small V6, and think about projects where someone bolted a turbo to an engine not designed for such use, and had lots of issues.
The EB is engineered to the task. The 2.7 even moreso, with its CGI block. Which was previously used in, you know, diesel engines that run with turbos. - TystevensExplorer

Well, there is nothing really to report. I think it is safe to say that the EB has been as reliable as any other truck engine since its debut in 2011.
So, we have to argue about something else, ie, mileage.
