6spd trans is standard with 4.6L 3V and 5.4L for 2009+ F-150. Experience with the 2009 and 2010 is mixed due to the lack of limiting gearing. I do agree that finding a 2011 either 5.0L or Ecoboost would be desireable. Of course, 2012 4WD increases fuel tank to 36gal too as long as I'm spending someone else's money.
How much towing and non towing will you be doing with this truck? Something like a 2007.5 GM 3/4 ton 6.0L would be great! I love mine. Uses less fuel under every condition than my 2003 F-150 with lots more power and the 6-spd gearing. And you'll have payload to spare for nearly any TT.
