F150 tow 175LHS, need sway control?

Thanks everyone for answering my previous question. Now I kind of make my mind to go for the Hideout 175LHS. It's dry weight is 3310lbs, 21ft include the hitch. It is a single axle unit. I will tow it with a 2014 F150 super crew short box. Do I still need to consider invest a four way sway control hitch? What will happen in case a tire blow out? Will the trailer induce strong sway to the truck? Is the sway control system going to help in case like this?
  • It won't hurt, that's for sure. Sway is typically a result of poor (or light) tongue weight and you should have at least 12% of the trailer's total (and actual) weight on the tongue. However, strong wind gusts, passing trucks and other large vehicles can indeed induce some sway and this is when a sway control device will help...but keep in mind, will not eliminate.

In your case, I would first make sure that I have sufficient weight on the tongue and I would also install at least a single anti-sway device. You probably don't need a weight distribution unit, but even one of those will also help somewhat.

good luck and I hope this helps
