The F-150 with the eco boost engine is tow rated up to 9600 lbs or more so it can handle the trailer weight even with the 3.55 gears. Better to go with the 3.73 gears which are also available with this truck as it will provide better acceleration and better performance on grades with the total combined weight of the truck, trailer, and whatever you load inside.
You will not find posts where people are having problems with the gears being too low for their tow vehicle but quite a few with problems caused by gears that are too tall for the engine to handle and stay within its power band. Not worth a half mile per gallon gain unless you are Ford trying to meet CAFE fleet standards with high gearing for the freeway MPG measurements.
