There is a difference between the bridge weight laws and the tonnage in states that enforce/collect weight fees.
I my home state they collect weight fees. They use tare weight times 1.5 and then round up to the next even K. Our 8800 GVWR 2001.5 was licensed to 12K. Our 2015 is licensed to the same 12K, however for not that much a year I can raise that to 14K if I want to.
So getting a ticket in Washington or any other state, I would have to be over the bridge weight limits or the tonnage I am paying for.
