Some of you engineers are using the do not go over this rating.
Police do not enforce the manufactures ratings. They enforce the max point load you can put on a road bed before damaging the road.
Hence the max load per axle wadcutter has pointed out. Or in Washington ST, those numbers can be reduced to a max of 500 lbs per inch width of tire. This is also in the federal bridge laws that are enforced by ALL 50 states. If a given state does not follow this law, federal funding can be reduced or deleted.
So one can flow the door sticker as NC likes to do. Others, follow their state they live in rules, pay licensing accordingly. I've paid for lights ending, been pulled over under the.paid for amount, but over door sticker numbers. I have yet to get an overweight ticket. Closest I.came was in my dump truck. Weighed in at 27200, licensed at 26,000. Under the max axle weights per lbs per inch of tire per axle, given 10 days to up paid for tags to 28000. Sent on my way. I was 9000 lbs OVER door sticker amount!
If I get pulled over today or when ever in my C2500, I would be over weight by 600 lbs, as my paid for tonnage is 8000 lbs. I could run down the road upwards of 20,000 lbs with 10,000 per axle. 500 time 10" tires times 4 or two per axle.
Manufacture brochure max payload are based on base model, no options. Rarely does it show a max minimum payload based on no to ALL option included.
So reality is, it's up to you to know laws, what you can or can not do, legally, insurance, warranty wise when you go out on the road. Also remember, if an LEO or CVEO wants you off the road, you will be off the road red tagged if unsafe in someway shape or form!
