I've only said what is legal. I'm not saying it's smart! I've also pointed out, if an LEO wants to get you off the road, they can and will. It will cost you more than being over weight. Over weight is not a moving violation. Brakes that do not stop said situation IS a moving violation. That will go on your driving record, hurt your insurance record etc.
As noted by walaby, most people here will NEVER be over weight from a legal perspective. If they follow manufactures warranty ratings, they will not be timetable overweight. Unless they do not have a paid for tag of the.correct amount. I've also.stated it is NO at legal for me to.run down the road at 8600 lbs per my.door sticker. I have an 8000 lb gvw registration. Real simple to.up it in 2000 lb increments. I would then be legal.
My.insurance does not care about manufactures ratings, only.that I.am legal.
A lower axle ratio on a truck does not mean you are safer at a higher gcwr, only.that you get the load.moving, can go up a steeper grade at the same weight and not stall out. Or climb an x% grade before stalling out at a higher gcw.
As I've said.many times, there is more than one way to.look at what you can or can not do with a given rig!
