Fan still runs when connected to constant power

So it may have been covered before but I have a question about fans/heat/AC. I dry camp a few times a year at a race track and run off of my batteries and charge off a small generator. But this year I stayed connected to constant power and my fan continued to run even though I was at the temperature on the thermostat for the heater. When i am on battery power, it shuts off unless it is on the fan setting. The AC and heat run until they meet their set temperature. So the fan was still blowing out of the top vents (not AC) and the heater would run normal until temperature. Any ideas of what it could be? I plan on camping at resorts and stay connected but don't want the fan running all of the time. Thanks.
  • On your t-stat....set FAN to AUTO

The FAN is for your A/C Unit..(furnace has it's own fan---12V DC powered)

The FAN in Auto will only run when A/C Unit is running .....fan blows the cold air out

The FAN in manual (high or low) will run continuously when on shore power (it is a 120V AC powered fan) when A/C Unit or Furnace runs
  • Our first travel trailer (our Dutchmen Sport), the air conditioner fan ran constantly. It never shut off, even when on Auto. Furnace fan cycled on and off as expected, no problem.

Second travel trailer, air conditioner fan cycled on and off with the compressor. Current camper does the same.

It's possible the air-conditioner is just wired to run the fan constantly.

However, as stated above, check that switch on the thermostat, "Auto" not "Fan only". See if that works.
  • might be the fan for the converter, if it is near the furnace, if so the fan has to run to keep the converter cool
