Fantastic Fan Rain Sensor NG

If you have the Rain sensor model that has also hasthe remote control, if you hold the up/down button it will disable the rain sensor (rain sensor LED turns Red). hold button again and LED sensor enables again and LED turns green.

I do have a fantastic vent cover, but humidify can still trigger rain sensor to close vent (we bondock at beach) the ability to disable rain sensor is a life saver when its 80 deg at night, humid, and you don't have AC.

Their not bad. I think they are a bit overpriced but my unit came with one.

They did get bought out recently. Not sure if the was LCI or Dometic but it seems like there is a mass compounding of smaller companies in the RV world being bought up by larger companies. HappiJack and Fantastic fan come to mind. Lippert components is sucking up everything, and in my personal opinion, Lippert is about profit and not about quality. Cannot remember if Lippert bought Fantastic but the did buy HappiJac.

The fan motors are Chinese, says right on them. Not always all bad but I've had failures. Fantastic replaces them no questions but I'd prefer to see something more long lasting in as much as removal of the motor is a PITA.

The downhill spiral begins every time these small family owned businesses get sold.

I wondered how well those work. Sounds like they fail although they are cool in concept.

Many of us use the other workaround ... a separate rain cover and our vents stay open because it rains too much in WA, and we use the vent when it is raining any way.

Interesting design. The brush holders (I assume are vertical) and I think what happens is the brushes hang up in the brush holders an that is what causes the cricket sound. After a while it stops working.

When I took the first motor out before I replaced it, I whacked the end with a hard faced plastic mallet and it was working fine again, I presume I knocked the brushes loose again but I already had the replacement in hand so it was replaced. The case is welded shout, If this last one stars 'cricketing' again, I may grind the weld tabs off and have a look inside.

Nice fan but the motor is questionable.

My relationship with FF has been excellent. I'm on my 3rd motor / fan assembly. The motors case is welded shut and you cannot take it apart and I've had 2 fail. I call FF and they send me a new one with a prepaid shipping label to send the old one back. Never an issue and that was last fall (last time).

Might have changed, I think they got bought out by LCI and it's my experience that LCI has poor customer relations.

Hopefully, the 3rd one don't poop out. I'm real good at taking it apart now.

The problem with computer sensor is that you you don't know what is wrong till you spend your money on the parts.
The sensor sends signal to circuit board.
Is it bad sensor, or bad board?
Boards get expensive those days.
I had similar dilemma on my car. I could scan the computer and it was showing bad MAF sensor. Cleaning the sensor, plug did not help, so I spend $350 on new sensor and still had error. Then took it to dealer and $150 told me that the wire down fro plug was bad.
