Just curious about this....I've ordered 2 Fantastic fans to replace the original factory fans in my CougarI currently have the standard Maxaire vent covers installed now.However, I've noticed that the Fantastic Fan website only recommends that their brand of vent covers be used. That particular recommendation doesn't surprise anyone, I don't blame them for promoting their productsWhat caught my attention the most was them stating that their brand allows 100% air flow and the "other" brands can block the airflow by as much as 75%That is an impressive statSo my question is;Would you folks please share your experience with using the standard MaxAire vent cover with the Fantastic Fan Did you find that the Maxaire worked good? orDid you have problems with air flow restrictions? Noise? or etcI appreciate your timeHawk

I'm interested in this as well. Our new TT has a Fantastic Fan in the bathroom and I want to install some kind of MaxAire type cover over it. Does MaxAire even make one for the Fan?

I have the basic MaxAire cover over my FF. It limits how high I can raise the lid. And I can see how it would limit ventilation when the FF is turned off.But I don't think I'm losing any capability with the FF powered up. Our configuration is what was recommended by our RV tech who installed both (he didn't think the extra $$ for the FF cover was worth it).

As said above, you need the larger vent cover otherwise it will prevent the lid from opening all the way. We bought two of the smaller Maxxair vent covers early this year off the internet ahead of getting our latest TT which came with two Maxxair fans. Our dealer noticed it right away and and swapped them for the larger ones.If you have a Maxxair fan in the bedroom, I suggest getting a black cover to aid in room darkening.

I have Maxxair covers on all of my vents and I put a Maxxair Fanmate over the Fantastic fan. It is made for this application.Like the others it is bolted to the frame of the vent and not to the roof as the others are. It has no effect on the airflow and you can open it up for cleaning. It does not seem to add anything to the noise level.

We have the Maxxair covers over our two Fantastic fans and the lids don't open all the way as previously stated. I suppose there is some air flow restriction but I don't know how to measure it and we've been getting along just fine for several years.BTW Fantastic fans are noisy and I recommend they NOT be put in the bedrooms.

What I found interesting about that video is that they had the vents blocked on the side of one and no screen in theirs and they did not test the MaxxAir Fan/Mate which they had in adds before they made their own.:@

I have a Maxxair II on my Vent Line bathroom fan and it works great. I tried mounting a Maxxair II on my Fantastic Fan and it wasn't a good fit, so in installed a Fantastic UltraBreeze cover and it fits great. The only thing that I found with the Fantastic UltraBreeze cover is that if it is blowing and raining and you are pointed against the wind the rain can come in the open vent.

Just make sure to keep the screens clean, and not just the fan screens, but the trailer window screens, too. You won't see a whole lot of restriction with the Maxxair covers. They still work fine.

Maxxair II covers and they work great on our 2 vent fans. Video on Fantastic fan website is deceiving as they remove the grill screen from their unit while leaving the screen on the Maxxaire II. With screens removed on both they would perform similarly.

I have had Max Aire vent covers on my fantastic fans of every motorhome that I owned for 25years. Never had a problem or felt that the air was restricted. I would not be without them.

Our bedroom Fantastic Vent has a Max Aire cover and works just fine. Yes, the cover does not open all the way and since it is n auto model with rain and temp sensors I do have to open and close it manually. With the multi-variable speed we rarely run it wide open.

Our other two Fantastic Vents have no covers and rain sensors.

BTW, if one is "too noisy" there is something wrong with it. We have had them for years and occasionally a bug or a leaf will get caught and create noise, otherwise you can barely hear them.

It will work, but you'll be limited on air flow. Fantastic Fan has a youtube video on this very subject. To take advantage of the FF, I would go with their covers, but they are pricey!

Interesting. Is it the motor or fan blade making the noise? The Maxxair in our bedroom is pretty quiet, unless the speed is cranked up.
