Farish, CO Military Recreation Area

I was wondering if anyone on the RV.net TC forum had ever used the Farish Recreation Area that is affiliated with the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO? It sounds like a lovely location, but I'm wondering how busy it gets. It sounds like a perfect place for anyone associated with the military that has a TC as the campgrounds sound somewhat difficult to maneuver in. If anyone has been there and can offer any comments or pictures I'm very interested…thinking this might be a good spot to visit around Memorial Day.

  • Just getting settled with new job and house hunting in Brighton, CO. Hope to make it down to Farish later in July.
  • Check out the campground at the Air Force Academy, very nice, very popular need reservations.
  • Thank you for your service! I've been in 8 years, not sure if I'll do 20.

Yiure going to love it out here. Lots of area to camp.
  • Thank you for the confirmations….I look forward to exploring the area when we arrive.

I'm coming to CO as I'm retiring from a 24+ year career in the Marine Corps and starting a new job in the Denver area.
  • A great place for getting away for a few days. Beautiful country, hiking trails, fishing is excellent! Enjoy your stay!
  • I'm in Fountain and was looking at their website the other day as I never heard of it. It does look like a nice place. What I do before we decide on a camping spot is check it out with Google Earth to see the approximate size of the spaces and layout. It does look tight, but that's just from satellite imagery from whenever that was taken.
With your Lance you should be fine.

What brings you out this way from VA? (I grew up in NN)
