We bought our 2006 Trail-vision with all intentions of keeping it forever, so I don't worry about messing up a little here and there. I'm pretty handy at mods and do some pretty good work, but I learn as I go. Just give plenty of thought to what you are doing before you do it and move slowly. You'll have fun and learn in the process. A cheap 'stud finder' was essential for me.
When I put shelving in cabinets, I just used the plastic, plug in shelf clips. They were plenty strong, even just held by the thin paneling. They don't get a lot of weight on them...maybe 10 lbs. I'm getting ready to replace several 'stick on' type hooks with brass screw in type. The stick on type turns loose in really hot weather, pot holders/pics, etc., fall to the floor. Just make sure you don't try to hang something too heavy for the screws to hold.
