Fiat and Cummins in court

What is the benefit of a capless system (other than manufacturer saving money and cutting corners)? My Jeep has capless as well, fuel door is latched.

I could google it but sounds like there's some folks here who already know the answer.

I still don't see the risk of DEF getting into the system, but I suppose if the plastic hose had a split, it is theoretically possible. Far more likely to get dust and dirt (my opinion), than DEF making the leap into the fuel filler tube and through the internal flap.
