Fiat-Chrysler caught cheating on diesel emmissions

They were the last to adopt DEF.

That link in the article is behind a paywall here is another:

Auto news

104,000 trucks affected. I think VW is up to around $15,000,000,000 in fines and payback/buyback to car owners so far.

  • Your links don't work for me. There are two class action lawsuits pending against FCA and Cummins. I haven't found anything that says the EPA is planning action against either company.

This has nothing to do whatsoever with Cummins. The 5.9 and 6.7 are not affected.

Heard it on NPR at lunch - wondered how long it would take for someone to post about it. Vehicles affected are Gran Cherokee and the 1/2 ton echo-diesel pickup. EPA has not taken any action and the vehicles are still legal to drive.

    According to the WP:

"The vehicles involved were the 2014 to 2016 model year Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep Grand Cherokees with 3.0-liter diesel engines. The allegations affect roughly 104,000 vehicles, EPA officials said."

So not the HD trucks apparently. Dodge had a diesel 1/2 ton back in 2014?

They did. Also had the diesel 3.0 GC

  • Try this one:Wash Post

104,000 2014-2016 trucks affected. This was after they started using DEF which is a bit of a puzzler for me. VW's refusal to use DEF led to their defeat software. The FC 2017 trucks so far have been refused permission to be sold.

I would not be surprised if other manufacturers get pulled into this. The EPA is apparently doing some retro testing.

  • Wait a minute, yes I did but it is the 3.0 not the Cummins.
