Thanks Fiat for taking things over, keep in mind you can't polish S#@T.
Amen!
I think you will see:
Ram
Jeep
Fiat
Look at Chrapsler's sales in December - Ram and Jeep were the only things keeping them in the black.
Just a matter of time before Sergio cans Dodge and Chrysler and rebrands the 1 or 2 compelling cars they offer Fiats or even Alfas and be done with them completely.
My only hope is the next time Chrysler cries about money the US Gov't says no. We shouldn't bail them out every 10-15 years. - wilber1Explorer

Chrysler's Jefferson North is the only car production plant still building vehicles in Detroit.
My 66 300 was built in the old Jefferson Ave plant.
A fellow C body owner! Beautiful Vert!
Really. There aren't a lot of us out there. What's yours?

America once held the monopoly with vehicle production with their people.
Dodge, Ford, GM, farm tractors etc started to fail because of cheap quality and then you people started getting smart and saw what superb workmanship the Japaneses have been making for years and started buying them.
I've always owned Dodge and Ford, still do for my company trucks but when the Europeans start sending over a tough truck I'm buying a few.
Let's face it USA you people got greedy and now your economy is in the dumps and there's no turning back now and you need others to take over the messes that you've made.
You think your economy isn't dependent on the U.S.? Not often I see a poster who has such dislike for America. Millions of American's gave their lives so that people like you can speak as you do.
No we don't depend on the US! Lol we're a self sufficient country that doesn't need to constantly start wars and kill people to get what we want and need!
For some reason Americans think their country is the biggest in the world and holds power, sad fact is that's a myth. - Charlie_D_Explorer

As we bid adieu to the increasingly political thread! :B
Mama Mia, Fiat/Chrysler/Ram! Live long and prosper.........:D
I disagree, this is a very interesting thread for those of us that don't live in the State.
I hope it doesn't get locked as no one is being an ass, they're just stating what they've seen and lived through. - travelnutzExplorer IIMe Again,
The FEW at the top are the business owners and operators who employ and furnish the very paychecks and income of the "working class". Why are so "dumb" as to bite the very hand that feeds you? Even animals are smarter than that!
Yes, I'm 72 and have had and have lots of RV's, boats, homes, fancy dinners, lavish vacations and Christmas's, etc just like so many of my age. However, the RV's boats, homes, etc attributes and size was not even remotely like what is called the norm today. You need to think back very carefully and be honest. The 1950's/60's basic 1000-1200 sq ft simple home with basic appliances of the era and simple furnishings on simple yards with NO pool etc, a simple sedan car with roll down windows, no A/C, little engines often with a stick, a plain basic low HP (under 75 HP) outboard open aluminum, wood, or simple fiberglass boat on a trailer, a small very cheap 16-20 ft TT or popup trailer, as there were few type choices back then, with NO A/C, TV, power jacks, small ice boxes or very small gas fridge, and a patio awning was a real luxury, or maybe you only had or could afford a tent! Yes, I remember them very well!
I also remember very low taxes and stiffling income robbing regulations like today and/or add on taxes/charges. 3 cent postage stamps and 3% sales tax. NO state income taxes! Nearly all recreation venues (state and local) were free to all with zreo entrance fees.
If you wanted to eat, you better get a job or starve. No one paid your bills for you! Handouts were nearly unheard of. Personal responsibility was mandated, with NO exceptions! A max of 26 weeks of $40 to $60 a week of unemployment benefits and you must have a list of 2 places you had actually applied for employment at each and every week or you were denied your check! Your list was always checked out! You had to prove you were available and seeking employment every week. NO cradle to grave take care of me like is pushed or mandated today, period!
You bet I can remember it well! That's why I and my wife put our noses to the grind stone and built a better life for us and our kids and it took extreme sacrifices but we sucked it up and stuck to it and it sure paid off. You'll never take from us! Today, most people tend to want everything of luxury given to them and use regulations, taxes, and addon charges to steal others accompolishments. The handouts today are so far superior to the best living environments most could have by fulltime working in the 1950's. Unions like to treat everyone the same but they are not remotely the same. They hold back the achievers and protect the riff raff and lazy. You are all paying with your deductions, taxes, penalties, premiums, and with every purchse made for this insane screwing up of life in America.
Then to add salt into an open wound, you/other thought you were cutting a fat hog by buying foreign made products and just kept on buying them until your job was eliminated and you have the nerve to ask why it happened? Look around your home and your entire families homes and where were the contents made? Sure employed a lot of Americans to make all that "stuff" didn't it? TV's used to all be built in the USA and so were computers, ranges, refrigerators, vehicles, appliances, tools of all kinds, clothes, building products, and one of the latest is the drastic lowering of our food grown in the USA as much is imported now.
I do NOT feel one bit sorry for the issues of finance and lack of funds spoke of today or on this forum. You have all done it to yourselves and to your kids future and their kids future and you don't seem to even really care as you just complain about it rahter than doing something about it. Maybe, you really just like it the way it is??? Then enjoy the world that you have helped build! You built it and you own it! - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerLets talk a little more about this sending jobs to Mexico! Fred care to list the jobs lost in the USA to Mexico please! Yes Fiat is building the 500 in Toluca, Mexico but that will soon come to an end as they "Fiat" are going to move production of the 500 back to Tychy, Poland.
The Pentastar which you like to throw around is built in the US and Mexico with the US building at full production. Fiat is not happy with the quality coming out of Mexico! Trenton, Mi is going to built the VM diesel for use in the Ram, Jeep GC and the Proline vans. Along with all vehicles shipped to European and Asian markets.
Something for you Blue Oval Eco-Boost boys, you won't be the only kids on the block come 2015 the Pentastar will have the same "right stuff".
"Twin and single turbocharged variants are planned for 2015. These engines are projected to produce around 420 and 370 horsepower respectively. Direct injection is also planned"
All the plants in the US are at FULL capacity and have been for a long time now! As for Jeep and China it's still on, their plant goes on line this year from what I have heard and NO they will not be shipping Jeeps to North America. They are for use in China and China only.

To be correct, a few at the top got greedy and the American working class got the shaft.
When I retired in 2006 my boss was told if he replaced me, it had to be with someone not from the USA. I was making 100k+, and they wanted someone for 20k that knew the tech side but understood nothing about the business side of the bank networks that I designed and coordinated the installation of.
The greed is at the top, but some will try to make you think it is with the workers.
This is a RV forum and these RV's were all purchased with decent family supporting wages.
Good luck to the next generation.
Chris
Couldn't agree more Chris. Comparing my parent's generation to mine is scary enough; I was one of 7 children with a stay-at-home Mom and a blue-collar Dad yet we had RVs, boats, we ate out, we had big Christmases, etc.
Fast-forward to today, my girlfriend and I both work full-time, we have 2 young kids, and we struggle just to keep up with life's bills and are currently saving and sacrifing other luxuries for an RV fund.
