...One thing I found out is that there is no "premium DEF", ie, one brand is not better than the other; it only has to meet a certain standard. It's kinda like when you buy isopropyl alcohol; buy the cheapest, it's all the same.
Tell that to the typical Ram dealer if you get a DEF related error message or CEL. Many will tell you that if you didn't use Mopar DEF, then the repairs are not warranty but on you. Total BS but that is the reality at many Ram service dealerships.
Yes it is total BS. If I fill my DEF tank at the pump at a truck stop, it voids my warranty? I'll let the cat out of the bag and tell you I'm an attorney in So Cal and I've dealt with this BS before.
The burden of proof is on the DEALER to show the DEF or any aftermarket part you installed CAUSED the problem. Not many people realize this.
Dealers (and FIAT) buys their DEF from the same folks that fill up the pumps. There is NO DIFFERENCE between PEAK BLUE DEF at $12 at WANGMART and WANGMART'S house brand at $7.88. There is no "premium" or good, better, best, when it comes to DEF.
