Tranny temps were hanging around 165 up to 185, saw oil temp go up to 202 up Sam's Gap. Never even heard the fan kick on, but outside temp at that time was around 40 degrees, never saw it go up from around 190 or so.
and you're right, there are TN troopers that set on that mountain waiting to catch someone going 55 or better, speed limit is 50, believe they'd give you 5 over, but heck, I don't know. I usally drive up it at 55 mph.
and you're also right about the time you top that mountain and head down it for the next 5 miles or so.....NC Troopers just waiting to grab someone going up the mountain too fast, or coming down it to fast..
I looked at RPM's quite a few times, but to say where I was while towing at a certain speed, I'm not sure, I know at one point, going up the mountain in 5th running right at 60, rpm was between 2500-2750 rpm, but wasn't screaming, nor did it seem the truck was being pushed to any kind of a limit.
Mental note: Don't go by Skyland Automotive...for any reason....:B
thanks Travelingman
