I drive a '13 School bus with air ride and air ride seat and it is not any better or smoother than the '08 with rear springs that I drove before.
NC Hauler, when the air ride trucks come out you will be ready to trade!-just teasing!-whsk
I believe the new air ride in the DRW changes the empty ride comfort. They put a really soft leaf spring in the rear for a better ride and pump up the bags for the bigger payloads.
But see, if the OEM does it, it is GREAT! Got to have it!
But, if aftermarket does the EXACT SAME THING, it "doesn't help any" ! (sarcasm font).
Hey buddy, get bored on the Cummins Forum?:B
Was wondering about the rear air suspension...Not really into it to be perfectly honest, but wondering...DOES GVWR remain the same, ie, 14,000#? (I know it still has the 9750# rated rear axle).....and GCWR hasn't changed? ie, 4:10, 37,500 GCWR?
....and I really haven't used "air bags" on a truck since the 03' Chevy 2500 S/A that I had, to help me level a load due to the fact that I had overloaded the truck well past GVWR,(which is only a number:)), cutting close to a 1,000# into RAWR.., (thus next was an 05 dually), Haven't had a dually yet that needed to have "air bags" to level load since owning any dually., but my 5er only has been weight of 3000#..
I think this 'air suspension" set up is more than just a couple Firestone airbags that are hooked up between the frame and axle...correct? Again, I don't know that much about the air suspension because, truthfully, really not interested in it...
