The Black Hills of South Dakota used to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The pine beetle has decimated the forest. There are places where roads and trails are closed due to the danger of trees falling. It is unlawful to bring out of state firewood. Campgrounds do not allow you to bring in or burn wood that is not acquired locally. It is not a law yet but most places ask that if you bring wood in that you turn it over so they can give to forest service to handle.
