Ford's sales numbers will be down this year, as they're losing 13 weeks minimum production retooling for the new aluminum 1/2 ton. After that factory is up and working, they'll be taking their second light truck factory down for retooling.
Ford's not just engineering a truck. They're inventing machinery and tooling to build the truck at the same time. No mass market aluminum vehicle has ever been built.

As far as I know, Ford still sells more diesel pickups than Ram and GM combined. It's been that way for many, many years. It helps to have a fine dealer base (sorry RAM) and a strong base of commercial customers.
