Interesting. Lowest in-class payload and it gets TOTY. Using an engine that isn't available yet. Almost $60k. Are you sure Motor Trend did this or was it Consumer Reports? Oh wait, it wasn't a foreign vehicle so it couldn't have been Consumer Reports. Then again, it is a Fiat, so maybe it was CR.
Bring on the flak........
"Almost $60K" = Any Brand, certainly not Ram specific. You can get the (maligned for unknown reason) diesel for half that, which also would most likely increase your payload some too.
As much as I would like to see it offered with more payload, Ram has stated their position on that a long time ago, and it makes sense. You want more payload, move up to an HD model.
I won't address the rest of your shallow rant. This is all the "flak" you will get from me. - TargaExplorerVery nice !! I am a Ram fan but I wonder what they will think about the Titan with the more powerful Cummins that should have been in the 1/2 ton Ram.

Besides the people on here, I don't think very much of the real world gives two $hits what the payload is. - MM49Explorer

The award isn't really all that meaningful, but I am of the opinion that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel (although pricey) will be a sales hit. Pretty significant truck for the market. One that actually delivers on the promise of fuel economy.
I seem to remember the same loudmouth that's spouting off here was boohooing a while ago about how the Ram 1500 diesel would never get 28 mpg real world. Now that he's been proven wrong by several independent sources --it's just that the truck is "ugly". LOL - he should have been a lawyer with that gift he has in debate....:R
It will be interesting when RAM wins the 3/4 ton truck of the year. The 6.4l with the rear coil suspension is by far the best package in the class. Two truck of the year awards.I can't waite

Do they give out 2 truck of the year awards :H I don't think so but your on to something there. Why are all the awards given to the 15 series the last few years ? Heck I remember the Ridgeline getting it one year :E Boy my side by side Mule must be in the running soon, I mean it's got a bed :B

MM49 - Bionic_ManExploreritguy posting negativity about a Chrysler product. SHOCKING!!
As was posted, all the new trucks are improvements over past models. Really hard to deny that RAM is pushing the envelope though. Diesel engine that delivers on MPG claims, 8 speed transmissions, air suspension, etc. Those innovations will make all the truck models better. - downtheroadExplorerYou can tell me I'm stupid, you can call my wife ugly, you can even kick my dog, but if you insult my TRUCK....now that there is fighting words.
