Worst of the bunch as in what, ride, comfort, luxury, fuel mileage, looks or what? broad statement you made there.
For the 1500's
Lowest Payload
Lowest Tow rating
Lowest quality (as per CR, JD Power, etc)
Ugliest
Near bottom on resale value
Near bottom on Fuel Economy
Near bottom on comfort/ride/luxury
Highest on gimmicks
Motor Trend bent their own rules 3x to make this POS win, and that looses all credibility.
1. TOTY must be available 1/1 - Ram will be 3/1
2. TOTY must be all new or substantially redesigned. 1 powerplant is not that (remember, 8 speed was last year)
3. TOTY has no published fuel economy, only their testing and others.
Sergio paid off for this, plain and simple. It should have been contender for 2014's award, not 2013.
Incredible as to just how bitter and petty you are....Not hard to see what hatred you have for an inanimate object....you may need to get some counseling...and your usage of acronyms to fill in for profanity seems to define most of your post. - NC_HaulerExplorer

Surprising that GM didn't win and that the Ram Turd won 2 years in a row. Guess Sergio must have bought more ads than any one else.
Also love how they changed the rules so the No Guts, No Glory, Ram would win.In a recent interview with Autoblog, president and CEO of Ram Truck, Reid Bigland, noted the EcoDiesel will not show up to dealerships until March 2014, which is a little odd, because in past Motor Trend Truck of the Year competitions, they have noted that for vehicles to qualify for their award, vehicles must be on sale the first week of January.
Wow, why don't you try to make a few friends in here and tell us how you really feel. I'm surprised the word T### is allowed, at one time, it was considered profanity, but hey, this is 2013, and people can type whatever they want when setting at a keyboard and no one around to discuss their bias opinions and hatefulness. - tomman58ExplorerAs stated in the past a 1500 is nothing but a shopping cart with big wheels.

Interesting. Lowest in-class payload and it gets TOTY. Using an engine that isn't available yet. Almost $60k. Are you sure Motor Trend did this or was it Consumer Reports? Oh wait, it wasn't a foreign vehicle so it couldn't have been Consumer Reports. Then again, it is a Fiat, so maybe it was CR.
Bring on the flak........
Besides the people on here, I don't think very much of the real world gives two $hits what the payload is.
LOL
Very true; we are the 2% for sure.
It reminds me of dialogue from the movie Casino, in which Joe Pesci's character says that DeNiro's character is a great gambler but "takes it so seriously that he doesn't enjoy it at all." (paraphrasing)
Makes me wonder how many of us take this RV & TV stuff so seriously that we sometimes forget to enjoy it :W - dubdub07ExplorerAnd we put a lot of stock in an award that was once one by the Honda Rigdeline? The Rigdeline is hardly even a truck.....

Very nice !! I am a Ram fan but I wonder what they will think about the Titan with the more powerful Cummins that should have been in the 1/2 ton Ram.
It wasn't Rams intentions to have a 1/2 ton towing machine. It's for mpg reasons that they went with the VM diesel. The CTD won't return the mpgs they wanted. Total overkill on the CTD. The Rams low payload rating removes it form towing big loads. Looks to me like they are going after the people mover/fleet user crowd since it's available across the trim levels. - tomman58ExplorerAnyone out there that gives a rat about the "new" truck of 2014 will soon not give a care as to what the Dodge is doing. The competition will (an is) going to walk all over them.
My BIL has a new GMC 1500and it is really, really nice. quiet, triple seal doors mean you can shut them not slam them. The new dash and all the other goodies are well done.
I will be ordering my new 2015 2500 GMC Dmax in a month or so. an't wait as the new 2500's are really nice also. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

Who knows at this time but I feel the cummins diesel would be more engine than needed for any 1500 model.

I tend to agree, unless Nissan offers a "HD" version of the Titan with chassis capabilities that justify the CTD's power. - larry_barnhartExplorer
