Fixed my GVW problem

Congrats on your new ride!!! I didn't notice, is it SRW's or DRW's and what cab/bed?

We did the jump from a 2500 Suburban to our F350 SRW, CC, SB, V10 gasser in 2007. It pulls and hauls all I need to and that is with a 1,600# loaded TW and stuff in the bed.

Before gas/fuels went nuts, DW would drive it to the store and liked it. Lots of get up and go... and she had no problem putting her foot in it... The only down side the truck has is, she has a drinking problem...

We only use it for hauling now, what ever that is now. (camper, flat deck, lumber yard runs...)In a few years when ever gas & fuel finally figure out what they will be selling for, we might trade then. Have no need to now. For us, we had to work to find this gasser but it was the right truck for us. May go oil burner next time around. By then the 800 ft lb of torque yours has, heck it might be 1,000ft lb

I did some further research. Consumer Reports rates the diesel F350 as the 3rd in ratings (the top has a score of 81, F350 80). The gas F350 is at the bottom of the list. Now we have to learn about owning and using a diesel.

My wife didn't like driving my Dodge dually but has no issues with my F-350 SRW pickup.

Bigger brakes .
17.5 to 1 compression braking .
Payload capacity to increase the percentage of tongue weight where it should be .
The ability to carry some extra dry firewood or water .
Very smart camper that O.P.

I did the same fix in 2011.
Chev. 1500 was getting wagged by my camper.
Traded for 6.4 Power stroke Diesel F-250.

Wt. was no longer an issue.
Power to spare, running up steep mountains...

A 3/4 ton cure for what ails you. :B

I agree completely. And I'm very happy for the OP on what he was able to do.

Unfortunately, for a lot of us (myself included), buying into such a comfortable towing margin just doesn't make economic sense. We camp locally most of the time, and probably won't make more than 1 - 3 trips annually more than 3 hours away, and even then, most likely never more than 5 or 6 hours away. Our TV is my daily driver, and I couldn't justify even a 3/4 ton gasser, on paper at least. Buying a high-mileage 1/2 ton, and a much older trailer is the only way we can afford at this time to camp the way we do. I'm happy to just have what we have.

If we could swing it, I would be more than happy to step up to a 3/4 ton gasser, and an oil burner would be even better. Why does money always seem to get in the way? :@

You solved your problem. Never saw anyone on here complain about having too much payload, but a lot of them about too little. Good fix.

If more people did what the OP did, there would be a lot less people on here asking about tires, suspension upgrades, and magic hitches that let them tow more than the vehicle was designed for. Oops, if that happened, the forum would lose half its threads.
