Flagstaff TT complaint

I have a 2008 Flagstaff tt by Forest River. The thing is literally falling apart. The slide out is falling off. We bought it new and I realize the warranty is out but feel its a manufacturer defect and Forest River should address but I can't get them to respond to me. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get them to address this

  • Campfire Time asked why we think it is a manufacturer defect.....the trailer frame is actually bowing. It is a super lite and the slide out is at the very back of of trailer, it's past the back wheels and think the weight of the slide out is too much for the super lite frame. It's not a piston type slide out. We had an 30+ year old Fleetwood before this one and it still didn't have any body/frame problems.

We haven't contacted the dealer since we no longer live in the state it was purchased in. We do have pictures but I can't figure out how to post them here. As far a maintenance, we keep it covered but don't know of any maintenance the is required for a travel trailer slide out.

Since you are out of warranty, Forest River does not have to (pay to) fix the trailer, unless perhaps you make a really convincing case that it was a manufacturing defect from when the trailer was new some 6 years ago. This will be a very hard thing to do and even if you have pictures they have to be in a really generous mood.

They will probably want you to take it to one of their dealerships to get the view of a 'disinterested party' rather than just accept your say so. It does not have to be the original dealer.

All RVs need some sort of maintenance, and depending on what is exactly going on with your slideout it is hard to say what should have been done. I suggest you include some accurate desciptions of the problem in addition to the photos. Why not write it up as if presenting to FR and then you'd just have to copy-and-paste into a letter to FR when the time comes.

  • What does your dealer say. They can talk directly to the manufacturer easier than you can.
  • Get an estimate on repairing it and try them. They may be willing to help out and maybe pay part of it if the cause can be shown to be their fault. Maybe not. It did last 6 years before something went bad. Could it be maintenance related? It would help to know what caused it..

  • Pictures? Why do you think this is a manufacturing defect? I think we need a little more info to give you a better answer.
  • It must be frustrating for sure but I doubt you will get much of a response from the manufacturer on a 6 year old unit. Too far out of warrantee I would expect. Good luck with it.
