Flat towing Jeep -next dumb question. Towing hitch for jeep

There are a few brands of folding tow bars. I have one that completely removes from my tow vehicle with just a single clip and pin.

Check on craigslist for your best price.

I went with Blue Ox Aventa. My tow bars stay with the truck camper and not with the Jeep.

I used to tow with a hitch like this one. Yeah, I know it's not pretty or great looking. I tied it up with a webbing strap to the windshield tie down or removed it depending on how long it was going to be up. http://www.harborfreight.com/5000-lb-capacity-adjustable-tow-bar-94696.html

x2 only way to go. no junk hanging off the front of the toad all the time.

Blue Ox Aventa tow bar and Blue Ox baseplate combo works well for me.

The winch will be a consideration and possibly a limitation when selecting a base plate.

I have one like this from way before the days of Harbor Freight. Pulled my Jeep behind our class C all over Texas and Montana, Wyoming, Dakota's, etc. Those 2 mounting brackets on the front bumper aren't very noticeable.

I too use the "harborfright" tow bar. It wrks well with my TJ, and you have to remember to buy cable type restraints, as that way they clear the hitch extension, and since they are coiled, retract out of the way. I also welded the bolts on the hitch, as since this is the only vehicle I will be towing, it won't need to be adjusted any more. Have towed the TJ all over the So. Cal desert, and local mountains, so it has been a real help. Can now park the truck and beast, and go shooting around to get supplies, or explore.
