Floorplans

While looking for a new TT in the 25'+ range without a slide out, I have encountered something that really does not make much sense. Availability of standard floor plans in that configuration are limited; however there are many in the bunkhouse configuration. I would think that those wanting to sleep a large number would also want all the room they could get once everyone arose.

I always liked the JAYCO site where you could look at all of the floors plans and compare them to one another... Don't know if they still do that or not...

  • Not everyone wants the weight or cost of slides, even families. But most people are willing to compromise something else to get the slides, thus the small market.
  • It's called a budget trailer. Or price point. It doesn't have a lot of appeal so when shopping on dealers lot it can be used as a base to sell better equipped TT's.

I would think large numbers would want a 2nd bathroom :B

as long as you can eat, have enough seating room and sleep in comfort thats the bottom line.

once they all wake, they get kicked out . I always had set up a large tarp to cover our site and large tent that acted as a screen house and dinning area.

Most of time, you are not hanging out inside an RV. A non slide TT with bunks offer that in a lighter weight so it can towed by a 150/1500 truck doubling as a daily driver. The trucks payload gets consumed by all the people and gear being hauled. Therefore you need to save weight and that often the answer is a non slide floorplan with aluminum siding weighing many hundreds of pounds less .
  • I could be satisfied with a non-slide model IF they would just finish off the wall between the front bedroom and the rest of the trailer. Almost all those models have a partial wall and a curtain. I know there's a couple that do it, but I wish I had more choices.
  • When we go camping, we don't sit in the trailer all day. Hence, TT only needs to be big enough to sleep in.
  • Limited choices of non-slide floorplans because most buyers want slides. Non-slide units are not selling.

Our first trailer years ago was a small bunk house without a slide. No kids. It was perfect for the 2 of us because we wanted an out of the way place for the dogs to hang out, look out the window and to sleep.
