I have 175k on my IFS. Original ball joints, CVs etc. Every Ford and Dodge Solid axle work truck I have ever owned needed Ball Joints, TREs, Track bars etc WAY more often than any of the Chevys with IFS.
I agree that a solid front axle is way better for hardcore off road than IFS. However, my HD truck is not a hardcore off road rig.
Oh yeah, and for all of the IFS haters out there....Fast forward to 5:30 and watch this 6sp manual Duramax pull the front end off the ground.
