I'll be real curious to see how these small engines hold up in the 200-250k mile range when they are ran to their limits frequently(not controlled factory testing). Of course 99.9% will never see a 10k lb trailer and those that do will only tow occasionally on level ground.
Don't get me wrong, I think they will do just fine for normal use. Pull a 4-5k trailer to the lake a few times a year and I think they will hold up just fine and will be a great option.
Any word on when the small turbo's will replace the base V8 in the 3/4 & 1 ton trucks? That's when I believe they are really confident in using them for heavy duty work.
