Ecoboosts have great power and pull up hills really well. I was pretty well set on getting one and have driven them quite a bit - a good friend has had a couple and we camp/hunt together, so I've got experience with them. Where they falter from what I've seen isn't so much going up hills, but coming back down them. Plus since they're only in the half tons, you're working with pretty limited payload issues and often inadequate tires.
I would be interested in how one would perform in an F250, though. With the right gearing you might be able to set up a pretty nice tow rig that offered really good unloaded MPGs.
