Yes, the jury is out on a 10 year old ecoboost. As Mvander said, it is not a high strung motor. I towed the entire trip never exceeding 2500rpm. Even the mentioned Ike Guantlet held speed limit at 2300-2400rpm. On my local "rolling hills" I hold 1600rpm at 58mph (with the trailer).
I probably don't understand all the stresses on a motor. I understand there is more to it than rpm. I do hope it proves to last, as I usually keep vehicles a minimum of 10 years.
